What it is that major hubs have been hit hard eg New York, LA etc but places like the mid west and that havent been hit as hard or not at all. Also America is run totally different to us and the lockdowns have been put in place by their State Governer so technically it can be lie Stae to State for example New York an New Jersey ca n be on full lockdow n while Wyoming could be just telling their people to keep to social distancing etc. Also America has a history of risinh up against things the hate or don't agree with etc.

It's tragic that there's so much disinformation and ignorance there, as well as a model of a diminished state, where there's minimal safety nets for the vulnerable.

The president hasn't helped people to remain safely at home, he's agreed with protesters, a little like Bolsonaro. In many ways he suppresses truth, which carries huge potential danger for the country and its citizens. Some things I heard citizens in Pennsylvania say on TV news were so scary, due to the widespread ignorance they held.

If Trump wins another term in office it could get messy over there.

Emboldened by the fact that he broke the law, survived impeachment and still managed to get re elected, there's no knowing how far he may push things in the future, nor what pushback may come from the more liberal states controlled by the Democrats.

A civil war may seem unlikely, but I wouldn't rule out the possibility entirely.

as a town that depends so much thru tourism there is going to be a pressure to open it up....

i think my over/under on vegas opening i would have said "labor day"

so my gut answer would be "touch and go!"

I hope it is open by then.... the weird thing with vegas is hotels/casinos i think you could social distance fairly easily... but the theatres/arenas i could see still being closed!

Although amongst the angry ranting, there is a point in there. The US gets a disproportionate amount of press compared to other nations. Possibly for two reasons:

1. US foreign policy and environment policy effects the whole world disproportionately more than arguably any other country. And

2. The media love Trump, can't get enough of him. He is always saying something that they want to report on or comment on.

Maybe that's what he's trying to get at?

The US is essentially two countries, economically at least, with the ‘blue’ (democrat) states propping up the ‘red’ (republican) states financially. Aside from Alaska and Texas every red state takes more from the pot than it puts in, whereas every blue state contributes more than it takes out. No other country in the world has come close to america when it comes to foreign intervention.

I'll think you find Great Britain, historically, has fucked over more of the world than the US.
