Selective rather than picky...selective implies positive choice, picky has more of a negative feel about it...but then it’s a bit like Yes Minister and the irregular verbs. For example:
I am confident; you are a bit sure of yourself; he is arrogant.
Language is everything.
And to the point of the OP, when on occasion we want to meet a single man (it does happen but rarely)...we like to receive a face photo (no cocks) and a nice friendly introductory message telling us a bit about what they are they looking for and why they might be suitable for us...ie they have read our profile.
