Feel a little odd tonight. Been seeing this guy on and off for the past 4 years.

The sex is amazing, just lately it's been more intense.

Tonight a few minutes into fucking he tells me he loves me, I just carried on biting his shoulder, he said it once after and again just after cumming.

He's a great guy, and of course I have feels, can't not after 4 years but that L word

Is it something you should say regardless being in the moment?

Some people can't help but say it, some can't help but want to hear it, some can't help but assume that is what they are feeling and some are just hoping to feel it or for someone to feel it for them. I love to hear my fwb tell me he loves me but I know we aren't in love, as nice as that might be. You can only be sure about your own feelings, for him and about what he has said to you. Do I think we are a little conditioned to say it? Yes!

Ask him about it. Maybe he finds it hard to tell you how he feels. Us men can be like that sometimes. Hope it works out the best for you both.

Like you say perhaps after 4yrs it’s understandable he may have developed feelings for you.

I guess the question is, how does that make you feel?

...Up on the Downs

People mean it in different ways at different times, but I'm always happy to be told, I support the free expression of emotion.

I’ve a dilemma.... I have two such friends. They know each other, slightly. They know about each other and both know that I have fun with others too...as they are free to do so...and one of them at least does.

However, last weekend my landlord told me he wishes to sell the house I’m in...so I need to find somewhere else.

Somehow in chatting to one of my friends the idea of looking for a place together came into it...and we have two joint bookings to look at houses. Kinda slipped into the situation more by accident than design..... but I must admit I’m a bit conflicted by this!

Get a house with both of them, and go on Jeremy Kyle!

In cave behind a waterfall on a hill

Being in the moment seems like a perfectly normal time to use the dreaded L word.

Is there ever a wrong time to say it....if it's really meant?

OK.. How do you feel about him after 4 years? Is he still just an emotionally-free fuck, or have you had a whiff of the L Word cross your mind.. Even if only in the heat of the moment?

I had a fuck buddy do this after 4 years . It was a horrible experience. He wanted some body to love him. After 4 years you should know this person an know if they ment it or if it was a heat of the moment thing. I personally can not deal with such games.

I had to check where you were in the world my fwb has a habit of saying what he feels in the moment like that!

Its only really a problem if you dont feel the same isnt it? You can love someone without having to go into a proper relationship? Do you both see others too? Xx

You can love your friends though, love and being in love are two different things.

If it’s bothered you, then talk to him about it. It may be you’re both at some kind of crossroads. You need to decide which way you’re going to go.

I do think you can love someone but not want or need to have a full time relationship with them.

I agree with MonkeySpank - and have done, you can love more than one person and four years FWB what did you think would happen.

In the moment declarations of love I don't take any notice of.

The worrying ones come out of the blue via WhatsApp, text or after sex, while you're recovering.

Easy to do and fall for someone with time. Walking away if you need to for sanities sake not always so simple.

Thanks for all of your input. I think i'm not going to over analyse it.

Like I say we've been shagging for four years and he's never said it before, that's why it took me by surprise.

"Easy to do and fall for someone with time. Walking away if you need to for sanities sake not always so simple."

This.

It’s weird when that word comes up, even in the confines of your own head. It changes the dynamic. From what you’ve said though, he said it three times, once after sex. You just have to figure out how you feel in return.

He said 'I love you'

Like I say, I'm not going to analyse it. Whatever happens, happens

Of course I love him, but not sure if I want the whole package.

I get the best of him, without the everyday mundane of washing his pants or dealing with his moods.

I posted the thread a day a go, while everything was fresh in my head.

Today I've decided i'm not going to analyse it.
