Suggest you Google 'day rate' and 'day room', there are plenty of places that do it, but often they don't promote it that openly.
e.g From the Guardian, of all places, a while back:
"Our suggestion is the stylish Hoxton, which has daytime deals on its "private offices" - aka its bedrooms - for a bargain £19. They're aimed at business people who need some desk space while they're in town, but there's nothing to stop you inviting your partner to step into your office.

Most hilton Hotels do day rates.
When you book on-line enter the same date for arrival and departure and hey presto they will quote the day rate for the hotel.
Starts about 10am and have to be out by 6pm. Plenty of time for lots of fun!  |

Yes I've found hotels hotels quite expensive at this time - it must be the summer rush of foreign visitors. Good for our economy but not good for play dates! Hilton I found were cheaper in the Autumn - a long time to wait I agree. |

Having had a past Hotel management career for over 30 years, the question of day rates is down to the individual hotels or groups, and importantly, their location.
Airport, ferry ports and some large cities will offer day rates. But usually, the day rate will be depend on staffing availability levels later in the day.
That is, many hotels will only retain housekeeping staff up to around 5pm. So if a room is let for the day and those guests depart after Housekeeping have gone off duty, then that room is unavailable for letting that night; hence a higher than normal "day-rate" may apply, to counter the lost overnight revenue.
Plus, too, "day booking" occupants will invariably only use the room, but not any of the Food & Drink outlets. That too is a potential loss that hoteliers will wish to overcome.
I've worked in hotels where day bookings were used to boost occupancy percentages; enough of those could keep the hotel above budget forecasts.

This country should have pleasure hotels, like Japan, that charge by the hour. We'd both have found these very useful when younger, with parents at home and no cars!
