After years of suffering from tonsillitis I finally had them removed in April. Great I’m thinking no more having to be off work for a week at a time (sometimes up to 3 times a year)

I wake up yesterday morning and I’m like wtf, I have all the symptoms of tonsillitis apart from the sore ears. I was told you could still get it but was very rare

Anyone else had theirs removed as an adult? How have you been since?

Not a wind up, some of the tissues remain after them being removed and they can occasionally regenerate but not to full size.

Maybe go to your doctor to check it out.

Shame that you suffer from it. Because on the plus side, it's good to know you are healthy and your body is regenerating.

Big hug xx

I get "tonsillitis" although my tonsils have long gone. Basically I get infected tonsil beds, same thing really. Or just a bad throat infection.

Tbh it was better when I had my tonsils!!

Tonsils usually take years to grow back. Sometimes though, a stump can be left.

Usually it's viral sore throat. Cannae do noot boot that

Had mine out about 10 yrs ago and was the best decision I made as 5 or more bouts a year weee too much. I was told by Dr that I may be more susceptible to sore throats and get the odd tonsil symptom sore throat but passes in 48hrs

Got mine out when I was 14 then again when I was about 30 after I developed Quincy throat which is apparently quite common after getting them removed. Most painful thing I've ever had.

Had mine out at 23, bloody awful!! I’ve since had several infections in the tonsil roots...worse than tonsillitis I think. Also suffered strep throat a lot since. Sometimes wish I’d not bothered.
