I've read quite a few posts and it seems alot of women don't read messages so I'd imagine winks are totally pointless."

Some people dont like them but i think a wink is a good way to show your interested and if you get a wink back then message.
Would much prefer a wink to a how are you or what are you up to message. |

Is it not easier to look at a list of winks than to wade through a deluge of messages? (I wouldn't know about either, personally). |

Pretty pointless if you're a guy sending them,or maybe not as a few ladies have said they'll wink back if they like the look of the winker.
I've had a couple of meets that started from a lass sending me a wink......n the end result was a lot more satisfying than a wank! |

Winks are much maligned. Saves hassle and should just be treated as an initial ice breaker surely.
I hate being tagged lazy if I don't send a tome.

Site supporters are different to verified members though surely?
I send out winks, they rarely attract any attention but its a nice wee way of acknowledging someone's profile and pics. |

Seriously though I think the use of the Wink here is a compliment to those you wink at and also at time a nice icebreaker...I wink at profiles I like.
If I actually receive an unsolicited Wink here(and it has actually happened believe it or not...lol)and I am interested in their profile I would at the very least return the Wink or even send a message thanking them for Wink.

Totally agree get fed up with the unimaginative hellos a wink is enough to set the conversation. |

I have winked at loads of folk, left it for a bit as an "icebreaker" then sent a message. Most messages read and deleted, plenty left unread.

Snap. They made the first "move" though, so the wink back is an indication that they should initiate the conversation.
However as previously stated, I do drop a message to someone thanking them for the Wink, if they don't match what I'm looking for, or are lacing something (Facial pics for example).
