Census on single club nights

Jump to: Newest in thread

By *oShrinkingViolet OP   Woman  over a year ago

the land of unicorns and fairytales

Looking to gauge interest on how many folk would be up for a singles only night at Cjs

A lot more single females are now on the site and going along to clubs and the limit on single men is good sometimes but then other nights like last week when there was an extremely large amount of single ladies in attendance there just wasn’t enough talent available

If there’s enough interest hopefully can ask Caroline to sort something out perhaps a valentines single event or one in the new year

Sounds like good fun! I have heard of other clubs doing 'speed dating' style singles events which sounded fun and a good way to have a quick chat with lots of people!

Yea couples just go as singles. Also limiting your potential numbers by not having couples.

If you look at it that way, there shouldn't be couples nights either. Because everyone can lie about being single or being a couple x

It's always couples and single women though. By not allowing single men won't hit as hard on income as not allowing couples as single men are always limited in number anyway.

Not as limited as normal, because the club will balance the male female ratio. I'm on here to meet single men, a singles night would be right up my alley and I really hope this'll go ahead at some point. This post is to see what interest there is for it, not to question whether people are real or not before it's even on the calendar x

Lots of single females don’t want to meet attached guys even if the wife says it’s ok and we’re also straight so the wives don’t interest us hence the emphasis on singles

Plenty "lie" about being a "couple" to get into the couple & single female nights.

Given my new status in life it's something I'd potentially look at in the future.

However I know a lot of women aren't into TV's and given that it's part of who I am, I can't exactly go in drab mode and hide the fact, as it's not right to lie. So it would really just be a social night for me.

I'd definitely be up for that ..!!!

Can't imagine cjs with an abundance of single ladies .. I guess guys just accept that we are plentiful on here and with limits on single guys at most clubs you just can't go unless book miles ahead, which doesn't suit a lot of single guys. A be singles night would likely be very popular ..!!

Thank you. I'm currently booked in for the Christmas Fun For All night on the 17th December, and hoping to book the hotel this coming Friday.

Show me a job where a woman gets paid less than a man.

Every job I've had I've been paid the same as women on the same scale.

If you know of any job where a woman is paid less then it's your duty to call the cops.

Two nurses on the same pay scale ,one male one female.

Which one gets paid more?

Neither.

If the man gets more it's probably because he does more over time.

It's illegal to pay a woman less than a man.

I say again if you personally know of a case where a woman is paid less than a man for the same job on the same scale you should call the cops.

It's illegal in Britain and has been for years.

We live in a gyno centric western world where guys get nailed everywhere.

Look at the courts.

But let's leave it there. You're right, this isn't the thread.

If you don't agree with what you pay at a swingers club, don't go. And you clearly haven't looked into the pay gap but that's ok, you just keep your head in the sand and feel so hard done by because you pay more than females when you go to a club. I'm not complaining about my wages, I don't need to phone anyone, but you need to get your facts right before coming out with stuff like this.

And besides that, if you have to pay £30-£40 to get into the club, bring your own bottle, it's still a cheap night out as far as I can see. That's like 2 rounds when you're out with your mates in the pub x

You didn't answer my question about pay discrimination.

When you say men get paid more are you talking about within jobs or between jobs? I'm guessing between. That's fair cause guys probably gravitate towards STEM subjects, which pay more, while women will gravitate towards caring and teaching, generally speaking.

I'm still right, we get paid the same for the same job. Men get more overall because we do jobs which carry a higher salary. That's the pay gap.

Oh and if I choose to go somewhere it's my choice, if you don't mind!?

When you say men get paid more are you talking about within jobs or between jobs? I'm guessing between. That's fair cause guys probably gravitate towards STEM subjects, which pay more, while women will gravitate towards caring and teaching, generally speaking.

I'm still right, we get paid the same for the same job. Men get more overall because we do jobs which carry a higher salary. That's the pay gap.

Oh and if I choose to go somewhere it's my choice, if you don't mind!?

Choose to go then and stop moaning about it "

Moaning? It's a valid point.

""Call the cops"??????

For pay discrimination?

Yeah. It's illegal. Call the cops.

Why not? If you see a crime, which pay discrimination is, you call the cops, don't you?

It's serious."

Give yourself a shake, you raise it with the organisation or contact a lawyer and deal with it through a civil action

"Quite frankly, the less single men, the better (and I say that as someone who almost always attends as a single male).

I am all for higher entry prices and limited spaces for single men.

Why ? Less competition ? There’s just not enough good looking single men to go round maybe if I was thirty years older

Yeah this lark of charging guys four times what the women pay grinds my gears.

I mean we're all equal now, right!?

Jobs,pay,opportunities...

Isn't this discrimination?

Actually it's nowhere near equal pay and opportunities. But that's for another thread

Show me a job where a woman gets paid less than a man.

Every job I've had I've been paid the same as women on the same scale.

If you know of any job where a woman is paid less then it's your duty to call the cops.

Better get dialing.

This is not really the thread to get into that sort of stuff, but just look up gender pay gap uk and you'll find all the figures there x

I'm generally against tiered or gendered pricing structures (excepting concessions for financial hardship), it doesn't account for enby's among other things. You can still cap numbers without incorporating a pricing deterent.

Could potentially be interested in a night like this in principle though!

There is a clear reason why men are charged more for attending clubs than women. Its to entice single woman to come along, then if they do the men will follow. They want to encourage more women to go. Men are always capped as well and for good reason, this also has a bearing on the price men pay, clubs don't want the place full of single men and by capping the number the demand is always there. You always have a choice to go or not go. It's the way it is like it or not. It's not the same thing at all to the gender pay thing.

Imagine applying that rationale to a restaurant? Let's charge guys 4 times as much for food as women. In fact there was a cafe in Australia where they charged men twice as much for a coffee as women. It's shut now. Gee I wonder why?

You are missing the point entirely, it's supply and demand as i have already said. Your argument is imaginary. In no world will men not go to clubs, they often have lengthy waiting lists of men hoping to get the chance to go. The spaces are premium and therefore charged at premium price. They hope to attract more women and therefore their price reflects this. They also want the balance right and don't want loads of single guys of the street coming in. It isn't about equality or lack of. It isn't sexist. It's the business model that many clubs work from.

I know it's imaginary, that's why I said suppose. But just for argument sake suppose the guys said no we want to pay the same as women. The club says no, the guys walk. You'd have a club full of women. Hypothetically.

It's unlikely but possible.

As for the balance, maybe some women want more men, more choice?

Anyway this is running out of legs.

Next topic svp.

Exactly this, it's more of a woman paying less rather than a man paying more. Since the ratio of men is far greater then the women need an incentive to try match the numbers

This is not really the thread to get into that sort of stuff, but just look up gender pay gap uk and you'll find all the figures there x

You just said they get the job at the lower end . That's not lower pay for the same job. The job title is different and their job carries different roles so less pay.

Why are they getting the lower end jobs? Maybe they don't want the extra hours.

If it's exactly the same job with the same job title and exact same responsibility it is illegal to pay them less. It's the law .

Two chefs on the same scale get the same pay, same for nurses,doctors,teachers....

I've never been paid more than a female colleague for the same job, same job title, same responsibilities. Never.

I bet a lot of the women would like more single men, more choice for them.

Imagine applying that rationale to a restaurant? Let's charge guys 4 times as much for food as women. In fact there was a cafe in Australia where they charged men twice as much for a coffee as women. It's shut now. Gee I wonder why?

You need to step away from your keyboard and read back what your writing. If you don't want to pay the price then don't go. It's very simple.

Not the best argument but let's follow it through to a conclusion.

Suppose all men said we don't want to pay that much and, your argument, no men went. What would you have? A club full of women. Fine if you're on that bus but not if you're not.

I wonder if you'd be so cavalier if women were charged more than men or would you want equality?

Hmmm you really aren’t getting it are you these are women with way more experience and much better at the job than men and still getting the lesser pay deal Christ when I left my job four men took my job !! Four of them all on the same ooops sorry 2k a year more than me got my job they split my job into four jobs for the boys !!! When it comes to employment law and he I have seriously done my research on the shit, ask anyone who’s ever argued with me that I really do only argue about the hair I’ve researched and I can always back it up

With case studies !! Anyhow you’ve completely derailed the thread and probably never going to get a shag now you’ve alienated all the forum

"Surely on a night like this though if there were say 50 men and 50 women attending all would pay the same amount.

You'd like to think so but I wouldn't put money on it."

I would def be up for a si gles night and willing to pay same as men. If 50/50 split should all be kne price.

Great thread OP

Wow! Someone’s swallowed a pill haven’t they?

Ok where to start.

Clubs charging less/nothing for women is historically a marketing ploy of course, based in part on the FACT that women generally speaking DO earn less than men - even for doing the exact same job. Also as has been said because the clubs know where the women lead men will follow, so making it cheaper/free for women means more women go and therefore so do more men. This applies to all clubs not just swinging ones.

Equal pay issues are improving gradually, very very gradually considering the equal pay act passed assent 52 years ago.

It’s less prevalent in civil service jobs (teaching, armed forces etc) I believe mainly as these roles have their salaries as a matter of public record, but still exists there also, I’ve certainly experienced it. It’s far more prevalent in the private sector, and is one reason why private companies have “no disclosing your salary” rules (which personally I think should also be illegal)

Loopholes are exploited by employers to get around the rules of course and some just blatantly ignore them. It’s incredibly hard to make a case for employers flaunting the law and in addition this govt have made it that employees taking such cases to civil court basically have to fund their own legal action by withdrawing legal

aid for employment law actions, which of course the employees cannot afford to do. One particularly favoured tactic is to have minor differences in job description that make no significant if any impact on employee productivity but are used by employers to give male and female employees essentially doing the same job or a job of equal difficulty/importance different job titles and use that as an excuse to pay the men more.

This is a very simplified explanation as to what a certain large supermarket were up to. A case I believe is still ongoing with appeals and such?

In addition there are industry differences. Male dominated industries eg stem are generally speaking better paid (and better conditions) than female dominated areas like eg nursing.

The myth that these industries attract male or female candidates because eg men are better at maths and women at nurturing has pretty much been debunked as we look at socialisation and education of our children from early years onwards.

Interestingly areas that were male dominated and have become female dominated have experienced a drop in salary standards and gender is definitely a factor in this, there have been a number of studies. One of these is the law funnily enough, another is medical research I believe.

When you then factor in that it’s not just salary/income that affects a woman’s, especially a mother’s, spending power then that is another reason why certain industries wanting to attract women customers will offer them lower prices.

Many other industries charge women more, the “pink tax”, the most cited examples of these tend to be in fashion and beauty retail. Guys pay a lot less for clothes and cosmetic/toiletry products than women do. Even for not only essentially the same product but even LESS of a product (deodorant is a particular area where this happens, the price of a woman’s small deodorant spray is often double a large man’s one)

“Two chefs on the same scale get the same pay”

I’ve worked in this industry as does my daughter now and I can assure you women chefs at the same level as a male chef is usually paid less, despite doing exactly the same job, same hours, at same place of employment.

“Show me the receipts.

Show me.”

The research is very easy to find if you look. Not receipts, but in salary disclosures that certain employers have had to make when such claims are investigated.

“are you seriously mansplaining her area of expertise to her?”

Yep! I think he just might be

"Why ? Less competition ? There’s just not enough good looking single men to go round maybe if I was thirty years older "

Because it’s the only practical way to prevent it turning into a sausage-fest. Even now, when clubs have higher prices and stricter rules for single men, they still massively outnumber single women.

If anything, prices - or at least the other hoops they have to jump through, such as providing verifications beforehand, perhaps - should be much tougher for single-men.

That way, you also keep out the impulsive riff-raff who don’t know how to behave themselves, spoil things for everyone, and give single-men a bad name on the community.

"Il go as long as there's no boring as feck a holes moaning about rates of pay going! Broken record springs to mind! "

Hear hear!

I think NSV needs to start a new thread with the provision that as it's just a thread to gague interest, that anyone that complains about unfair club prices or salaries is banned from the event

Because of the debate/discussion/argument it's made ths thread a bit messy and hard to read. That isn't NSV's fault, just appropriate discussion is required in appropriate areas only.

"Looking to gauge interest on how many folk would be up for a singles only night at Cjs

A lot more single females are now on the site and going along to clubs and the limit on single men is good sometimes but then other nights like last week when there was an extremely large amount of single ladies in attendance there just wasn’t enough talent available

If there’s enough interest hopefully can ask Caroline to sort something out perhaps a valentines single event or one in the new year "

Great idea, take me into accountN

It's the lack of single men in clubs that puts me off going. I've zero intrest in couples or the male half of a couple. I'd only want to play with other singles

You're right, this isn't the thread.

do you want hot bitches at the club or not? let them pay less i want there to be hot bitches dude! dont ruin it for me!

Not sure I'd call them bitches . I do like hot women.

I have no control over what the club charges, I'm merely making point. Don't think this will put women off going.

This has always been my understanding.

Cops aren't interested in gender pay. It's a civil action you need to raise.

I did a singles night, it was £5 a head and we had it in a city centre pub.

There’s plenty places to hold such an event. If people don’t like how things are run, there’s nothing to stop people organising their own events.
