I remember something along those lines, I think it's meant to be good luck if you accidentally put things on inside out so, if you were to correct it, it wouldn't necessarily be bad luck but would cancel out the good luck.

My dear Queen of Fingers, I can think of only one viable solution to this connundrum...
Henceforth I think you should go commando, then there is no risk of outside-in-undies...
But with the added bonus of potential flashing a smile when wearing a short skirt... mmmm |
