It was beyond thee joker in February last year with non attendance of SAGE meetings. He's indirectly killed more people than should have died.

He's beyond incompetent.

Get him out. For the love of life.

Can't believe I'm wishing that Jeremy hunt won the Tory leadership election. But..

And please, can we stop cslli g him Boris?

He's not anyone's mate. He's never been 'one of us'. Brexit was never a yrbing he believed in, just used to get what he wanted.

Blood. On. His. Hands.

Oh and Covid deniers/conspiracy theorists:do one. What are you ON!?

Amd iff you are on something, then give me some quick. I'd quite lilke to live in an alternative reality right now please.

The membership of SAGE depends on the nature of the emergency but it typically includes leading experts from within government and leading specialists from the fields of academia and industry.

The current group is chaired by the Government Chief Scientific Adviser, Sir Patrick Vallance and co-chaired by the Chief Medical Officer, Professor Chris Whitty, and includes experts from within government and leading specialists from the fields of healthcare and academia.

Note there is no mention of the PM having to attend.

i'm fairly certain the OP meant COBRA not SAGE. the first of which Johnson appeared weak and uninterested from his non-attendance as he chose to gorge at lavish functions and holiday instead.

Agreed.

I really don't understand why people make excuses for Johnson or refer to criticisms of him as "discusting."

He's the Prime Minister. Our current position in this pandemic starts and finishes with him. He needs to do better.

Boris was not an unknown quantity, in fact the opposite was the case. People need to choose their leaders with more consideration. These decisions have consequences.

He certainly doesn't seem to be following the pre-written and well-established protocols for an outbreak of Covid 19 in 2020/2021 but does seem to be making all the decisions on his own without taking advice from anyone else. Terrible leadership.

in 3 weeks and 3 days it will have been a full year since covid appeared on these islands. a full year of Johnson failing to act in time, a full year of johnson languishing miles behind the curve, a full year of attempting to revise down the advise of his own scientists to fit his churchillian 'londoners in the blitz' narrative. it's sickening and high time the man grew a spine and fell on his sword.

Johnson ain’t going anywhere soon . The Tories would have to choose another leader and quite frankly they haven’t got one . Or a least no one who wants to put their head up above this parapet! .. No the Tories will just keep egging him on to rah rah blah blah the public . At the end of the day if you wanted a political excuse for any adverse effects of Brexit you couldn’t pick a better one than a global pandemic ... And he’s now best buddy’s with Starmer! so much so when both are out of a job in 2025 .. Starmer will end up as Johnson’s legal advisor on the best place to stash all the dosh !

The last sentence is purely speculation on my behalf for those that may require a link to some article proving it

Yes because unlike you im a positive person and mass vaccination is the way out of this pandemic and believe it or not the more people you vaccinate the less chance of them dying.

It doesn't thats very true but nothing wrong with making comparisons, at the moment with the way the vaccination is going i would rather be in the uk than france.

the government are in the process of revising down the advice of experts yet again by ignoring the science and altering the vaccine program to suit the party narrative. if current reliable reporting is to be believed regarding the many millions of people having lost faith in how efficacious the vaccine will be as a result, then i would agree with them.

i disagree. it appears that he is devoting far too much time and effort on attempting to placate the loonatic fringe of his party which was engorged at the last election and constitutes a sum of parliamentary seats greater than the number of his majority.

The reference PHE :

It wasn't about retracting though was it? And if you read the original article they the NYT had pretty much already but a what they are wanting them to correct in the article as I quoted above.

You also said BMA and not BMJ.

And you obviously read the Spectators take of what the NYT said, rather than the actual article which from what I can see the BMJ should have nothing to complain about as they have basically said what they want them to say in the article.

So, citing the original article what do you think the BMJ are mad about? And you said retract the article, Where do they say this?

The reason I couldn't find it on google would be you put BMA!

Do you understand the difference between correction and retraction?

Do you understand the difference between the BMA and BMJ?

It is clearly the headline they are upset about not the whole article (which includes links to the actual changes)and this is what you were trying to argue about with another user earlier the content of the article, which the other user pointed out he got from other articles anyway.

So, I'm trying to say your point was against the headline, reference the wrong organisation and you put retraction rather than correction.

Overall, it showed you haven't read the article or haven't understood it.

We all do it sometimes myself included.

look i know you want to disagree with everything i post and im very flattered that you take such an interest in what i have to say .If you cant see asking for a "highly visible correction" is a polite way of asking them to retract the statement thats not my problem.

I have conceded that i typed bma instead of bmj even thought the bmj was commenting on what the bma said and apologized for any confusion it caused you and to be honest you are now just making yourself look a dick by trying to win a point which i have already apologized for.

i know how important it is for you having lost on so many occasions be it the GE or brexit and once again yes you are right i typed bma instead of bmj ,im sorry.

He's massively incompetent, he doesn't like making decisions, he's lazy, cares to much about some anti-lockdown loons in his party and doesn't actually follow scientific advice a lot of the time and he U-Turns every couple of days, despite refencing the economy a lot we are set for the worst recession in the g7 and look set to have one of the death rates in Europe.

Given all of this I think virtually anyone could have done better than him, even if they just copied Nicola a bit sooner.

"no not at all i remembered reading about the article in the ny times but couldn't remember where i read it so googled it as you wanted a link, that was the 1st one that mentioned the bmj asking for a retraction so i posted it. it wasnt the original article i read as couldnt remember where i read it but thought it would do for you as you seemed incapable of finding anything on google.

So, citing the original article what do you think the BMJ are mad about? And you said retract the article, Where do they say this?

The reason I couldn't find it on google would be you put BMA!read it yourself and then read the bmj its not hard to understand.

It doesn't mention the word retract once! You obviously found that hard to understand, that and the name of the journal!ok got you now retract is the word you have taken offence at this time i should have posted correct the article. pmsl

pmsl he’s a bute

Fact is we had more time than most of the counties in Europe to prepare, it was wasted and we will undoubtedly have one of the worst death tolls and rates in Europe and are set for the worst recession. being 10th out of 48 is giving us a bit too much credit when you look at the countries with higher death rates per million such as San Marino (62 deaths) & Liechtenstein (45 deaths) none of the countries above us had the advantage of being an island or the extra time we had.

Malmesbury/Larkhill

It seems to me that there are always a few people ready to blame others and not consider what part they've played in things going wrong.

They won't blame themselves for meeting for sex when they shouldn't have.

They won't blame themselves for adding to the crowds on the beach last summer,

They won't blame themselves for not wearing a mask when in a shop,

They won't blame themselves for bomb bursting all over the UK this Christmas when the rules said that they should stay put,

They won't blame themselves for attending raves and parties.

Always too easy to blame the Government. All of the above are obvious things, even a leaderless nation could work them out.

The great plague was carried by rats... It seems to me that this one is too.

The Government constantly reference great British Common Sense, are you saying this has failed us?

Even in a far more sensible country like Sweden this didn't really work when you compare it to it's neighbours where the governments locked down.

The public have a part but the actions of the government Cummings et all have not helped at all.

"All this Boris bashing

I would like to see anyone on here do better ffs

Yes he has made mistakes

But we are the world are in un precedented times

Give the Bloke a break

He's massively incompetent, he doesn't like making decisions, he's lazy, cares to much about some anti-lockdown loons in his party and doesn't actually follow scientific advice a lot of the time and he U-Turns every couple of days, despite refencing the economy a lot we are set for the worst recession in the g7 and look set to have one of the death rates in Europe.

Given all of this I think virtually anyone could have done better than him, even if they just copied Nicola a bit sooner.

Have to disagree on the death rate, check your figures on per million of population

10th out of 48 by that measure that's still pretty bad isn't it?

Don’t be to harsh, we now have the best strain of the Virus, it is world beating , faster than all the others , the all conquering British strain

You guys really do need to get out of your little bubble, pun intended and check the european stories to understand what is happening at least europe wide if not world wide

My point is lets keep it perspective and not over dramatise.

Once again unsubstantiated twodle

According to you? The stats given are correct "

But you quote to suit the narrative and fail to give a balanced picture

And you quote facts to suit yours? Give me some ‘facts’ that indicate we are dealing with the virus better than the majority of other countries .

bournemouth

I dont believe are better or worse than many countries, each has it's own individual circumstances causing benefits or negatives, we have a large bame population, are fatter and older than a lot which cause issues.

Some countries suffered early on others later, Germany had few deaths during the first wave but now they are getting nearly twice ours each day. Ours might rise again we can only pray they dont. Its easy to criticise but not to have to actually balance all the issues.

This.

As PM, you will face criticism. It's part of the job. As it's been mentioned, anyone can win an election but it's what you do when you're in the job that makes or breaks you.

Johnson is failing...horribly!

Lack of decisiveness, poor choices in cabinet selection, constant U-turns and failing in the objective of preventing a 2nd lockdown: we're now on our 3rd.

Yes, it's been a challenging year for world leaders during this pandemic. But the fact remains that he was too late in his response to this crisis and has been playing catch up ever since.

That Priti Patel has come forward claiming that they've been one step ahead of each problem is laughable.

By the measure of the amount of tax pays cash he's giving to his buddies for dodgy PPE.
