Do you find people over familiar these days ( i mean in day to day life). I really hate being called Mrs ****** but i expect it if ive not met someone before in a business situation. More and more i just get called karen, once they would ask you what you preferred to be called. I had that lady on the phone the other week that started the conversation with "hi karen its sue, how are you today" and i thought it was a friend of mine and it was just someone ringing about a delivery i was expecting. Also if you ring a company and are being transferred the person seems more personal with the small talk. As i said im not complaining just wondered if anyone else had noticed it |

Yes i had noticed it, doesnt bother me though. I find it a bit weird when my hubbys family kiss and hug each other when they say goodbye, we never did that in my family, only when i was a little kid. If i have a nice man visiting me i do like to give him a hug or a kiss goodbye. |

I'm old fashioned in that way
Mr/mrs or sir or madam
Especially kids
Kids calling adults first name terms is just plain wrong
Mind you respect is now a politically incorrect word
I can remember when kids had to earn the repect of adults
Now it's the adults that ate expected ta earn the kids respect xx  |

oh if that's the case, the usual terms of endearment i am used to are 'fat cunt' 'old bastard' 'wanker' and so on
i live in a charming neighbourhood about 2 doors away from an off licence that i suspect has a special licence to sell alcohol to under 18's who then drink it and form groups under my window until all hours
and they are ever so receptive to being asked to move on - not ! |

Years ago went away for the weekend with one of my aunties
She said, Will you please stop calling me Aunty ....
I couldn't I was always brought up that way and still call my last remaining uncle, using that even tho am 53, he thinks it's hilarious |

well i work in a business that goes by the method of using first names but only if that's how they introduce themselves if say hi im Mrs x then that's what i call them. i think its more natural but family wise my nieces and nephew have to call me auntie i earned that title lol i still at almost 31 call mine auntie or uncle its just the right thing i think |

When I get a phone call asking for Mr or Mrs ****....*THUNK* I hang up.....
Some ask me what I would rather be called...Catherine or shortened..I tell them I prefer Cath....but they still call me Catherine!!
Only my parents and the judge get to call me Catherine
