Indonesian rail authorities have decided upon extreme measures to stop “train surfers” across the country – by suspending overhead concrete balls.
The balls, though small, weigh in at 2kg each and pose a huge risk to those looking to hitch rides on top of trains in Indonesia. Overcrowding and poverty in the country mean that many choose to dodge fares by climbing on top of trains which run at high speeds.
FFs this is a bit drastic isn't it. Why not just put broken glass on the roof like they do on the walls up north.  |

Watch out the train companies will get ideas how to stop over crowding at commuter times, send a concrete ball rolling down the carriage.
I reckon just install train washes after each station, and go through at 30 mph to brush them off, and gives nice clean trains. |

Is this just a case of Darwinism playing out? i.e. Those that can't dodge a 2kg concrete ball suspended at face height above a speeding train are too stupid to survive, therefore only sensible genes get passsed on?? |
