Fake Valentines day people

Jump to: Newest in thread

By *went OP   Man  over a year ago

blackpool

Just been to the pub and was fairly busy people dresses nice and smartly. Eating nice pub food.

I don't know if jealous but I really thought a lot of people were faking it. Effort should be put into

Relationships all the time. When I had my wife and then Girl friend. I bought her flowers and chocolate very regularly.

And I felt they always were appreciated yet here I am sat single and alone. I was a gentleman when inside or outside.

How do you know all those people down buy flowers and gifts all year round too. I used to make a big deal on Valentine’s Day and I always made sure she had fresh flowers in the house too. I’d say the green eyed monster showed his ugly mug.

"How can you tell they were faking it?"

You can just tell off peoples body laungage, not an expert or anything. Obviously a lot genuine but a few fake.

It could be a tad of jealousy. Some do make an effort all year round, but make a special effort on valentine's day.... They know steak and blow job day is not too far away

You only have to look at a woman's eyes to tell, when they are crossed she is so not faking it...

Just because people go out and enjoy Valentine's day means they don't put effort into their relationship regularly?

Anyway, how do I avoid letting on that I'm faking it when I'm at dinner? I mean, 4 smiles seems not quite enough but 5 would be pushing it, no? And hand-holding is probably a bit much. Ugh, it's so difficult to get this stuff right

I don't think I did show my green eyes monster side. I merely people watched in between football and couple see how fake some people are.

Yes could possibly be a tad jealousy. I understand and repect people who make the efforts to make valentines day special, every day should be special when your with the person you love.

I know there are loads of people that are happily single, but for those that are involuntarily single at the moment I know that Valentine’s Day can be a difficult day.

It sounds, from reading between the lines in the opening post, that the OP is in the latter camp and I genuinely hope that things improve for you soon my friend.

Maybe some were ‘going through the motions’ of a night out on Valentine’s Day but it doesn’t mean that they don’t love each other, but I do kind of understand what you’re trying to say!

I was joking. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I don't see how you can look at a random person in the pub and know whether or not they hold their relationship special on other days. There's no way for you to know that. I'm sure some people are not as happy as they seem, fine, but again, there's no way for you to know anything about their personalities or their relationships. It just sounds like jealousy to me, sorry.

I'm completely jealous of the people that have someone on special occasions too OP.

It completely sucks to sit alone when everyone around you has someone

It makes me feel better too to think of the negatives - like they're sitting there in silence because they have nothing left to say to each other - or that it's fake because it's Valentine's Day.

But I'm honest enough with myself to know that I'd rather sit in a comfortable silence with someone than do everything on my own!

Ir to have a "fake" dinner bought for me - rather than work, cime home alone to eat shreddies for my dinner alone!

It's sad.

I'm sad - I'm just being honest.

It probably is fake for some because they’re doing what they think is expected. ‘What did you get your wife/GF/husband/BF for Valentine’s Day?’ Ppl would rather do something than have to say ‘nothing’. I’ve never shunned Valentine’s Day but never made a big deal of it. Making a big deal would be fake for me. This year consisted of chocolates, poetry, matching key rings and afternoon tea. Everyday things, no grand gestures, just simple stuff we enjoy that have left lasting memories

I work in the hospitality industry and tonight our restaurant put on a set Valentine's Menu.

I must say it was quite sad to see all the couples sitting there with nothing to say to each other, just going through the motions. It did scream they were just buying into the notion that they had to or were expected to go out for an expensive meal together to mark the occasion.

We worked late and enjoyed an exchange of meaningful cards, a glass of wine and pizza. It's all about being happy with the simple things.

I think every day should feel special and that will come naturally in the right relationship. I wouldn't settle for anything less.

I am reminded of the time Iwas at work and wewere at brek overlooking the carpark and spotted the flower delivery vanarrive and we speculated they were for Alison who had just got married. Sure enough he arrived in with 1 of the best for the lovely Alison. Shortly after another van arrived and a bloke got out with what can only be described as an artificial wreath for a grave. I led the taunts about the poor soul who was to receive the wreath. In walks the guy to announce "Is Jardy here?" As you may expect he is now an ex-husband.

"I am reminded of the time Iwas at work and wewere at brek overlooking the carpark and spotted the flower delivery vanarrive and we speculated they were for Alison who had just got married. "

I think Valentine's day puts pressure on people to show that they love someone by over the top acts of love; by doing so, they may well appear insincere (fake). Off course (on the whole) they aren't; they probably show each other love every day by doing a lot of very little things... making a meal, de-icing the car windscreen, a kiss good bye, a random affectionate test message..
