i need to eat more veggies but i just don't like um.

in fact some make me gag

i love fruit (all of it), can cope with salad veg but cooked veggies (other than potatoes / sweet potatoes) bleurgh

asparagus = no thanks

aubergine = not really, unless in moussaka

butternut squash = ok in soup

carrots = ok mashed up with butter

turnips = as with carrots

swedes = as with carrots

sprouts = no,no,no,no,no

cabbage = nice with butter and black pepper

cauliflower = ok covered in cheese sauce

peas = if mushy or tinned marrowfat then yes

spinach = food of the devil

spring greens = as with cabbage

courgette = repeat really badly on me as water based (cucumber and melons do too)

so, as you can see i don't mind some veg as long as it 'disguised' which somewhat defeats the object of it in the first place.

can anyone recommend some i can try or some i can 'disguise' in a healthier way to help get um down my neck ?

Bit out of season now but roasted parsnips with either honey and mustad seeds or just black pepper and a little oil on them.

I do lamb and cook (roast) parsnips, carrots and spuds in the lamb juice hmmmm

I hide spinach in spag bols (buy frozen from asda in little £2 coin shaped lumps) and in anything really as it breaks down, no taste but is healthy.

I put apple in with cabbage to sweeten it. Sprouts with bacon bits. Peppers again a little in most dishes. But most veg can be grated down and hidden in dishes, giving the goodness & minimal taste.

I got my brother a cook book called something like, 'hiding veg tastes' off amazon a few years back, will ask him for the isbn, he eats alsorts now and never did before the book :O (He is a police officer and 27!!)

Try stir frying the vegetables with a little butter, seasoning and sherry or whisky, brandy ....

Also, as has been suggested, roast the vegetables in olive oil, herbs and seasonings. The trick is not to over cook them so they go mushy. For extra zing, toss in some chili flakes
