I am in one of those funny moods today, sorry!

I like mine very dark but not burnt.

Got to be either white of 50/50, medium thickness, however, I would not turn my nose up at thick cut toasts.

Brown or wholemeal toasts are like cardboard IMHO.

They have to be cooled so that the butter does not melt and make them soggy.

I HATE soggy toasts!

How would you like yours?

Total opposite lol

I like white toast too, but fairly light - not too dark. I have to get the butter on it asap so it melts in, I hate it when there's a layer of butter on the top. And I don't like too much butter either - enough to cover the whole surface but no big lumps all over the place...

I don't mind granary toast - the Warburtons one is best - but not keen on normal wholemeal.

Tiger bread, cut half inch thick, waved in air till cold. Real buttah and marmalade.

In no particular order:

Lashing of butter on its own or with:

Marmite

Peanut butter

Peanut butter and strawberry jam

Gentleman's Relish (spicy anchovy paste)

And one of my favourite comfort food: Mayo with sesame seeds and ground black pepper.

My dog loves toasts too, and refuses to eat plain toast nowadays.

He is spoiled, I know!

I like the bread to be white, toasted close to burnt but not actually burnt, little bit of butter.... love it with sliced fresh tomato, grated cheese then nuked in the microwave (don't like grilled) add a bit of freshly ground black pepper.... nom nom nom

Mine likes garlic bread too, and anything that is crunchy.

I am sure his cracked tooth (now removed) was the result of chewing on a piece of pork scratching that I gave him!

i like to burn mine, scrape of the burn then leave it in the fridge over night...then have it with butter and marmalade...when i say marmalade, i mean the runny stuff that gathers in the bottom of the jar

I had toast today for tea time, as i had a large dinner..Like Toast very brown almost black (the carbon is supposed to be good for your stomach), only eat brown bread, let it cool then either spread or lime marmelade..ummm

I've never understood the settings on most toasters... they go from undercooked to OK to burnt to carbonised. Does anyone ever use anything above halfway...?

I once saw an article about a glass toaster which allowed you to watch the bread toasting so you could stop it at the right time. I think the glass panels heated up instead of the way traditional toasters work. It could only take one slice at a time though

I had my grandsons staying last night and made them eggy bread this morning. As we sat taling I said it had another name - French toast. I started pointing at other objects and gave them their french name. We got to the fruit bowl and I said in an exaggerated accent - thats called an Oranjjjjjj in French,I then pointed to an apple and said what do you think that is called. Apppelllllllll retorted the 4 year old.........

Pain perdu is different to French toast it has sugar and cinnamon in the mix and is more like a batter - its what they cook in New Orleans and its more a dessert than savoury. Both delish though. I'd forgotten about pain perdu! (lost bread) Quite an apt name for it lol.

Now just munched my way through a slice of toast (the crust - made it even better) and yes i had lots of butter.. was yummy!
