Paula Radcliffe or Geoff Capes ?

I think as long as they have photos it doesn't matter what they write because I can make up my own mind.

Some people are deluded, but maybe that includes me too. Personally I think I look better in real life than in my photos, and my pics aren't particularly flattering. I'd rather people be pleasantly surprised than disappointed.

A lot of guys don't get that "athletic" on here is a body type. They think because they play sport or are reasonably fit that it makes them athletic, without realising that it means do they *look* athletic.

You just look at the persons photo's and decide for yourself what they are. That's why it's always good to have a decent body pic on your profile. Let the viewer decide.

Being physically fit or strong is not the same as looking athletic or having an athletic build though.

It's a body type category, not related to actual fitness. It's possible to be very lean and toned and have poor cardiovascular fitness. That would still be an athletic build.

As I said above, this is what confuses guys.

The body type descriptors on here leave a lot to be desired IMO.

One persons views and different to another's I the sense of body types listed on sites like these it doesn't refer to oh you play sport your athletic but at the same time it should state more clearly some one that's 6ft6 and 17 stone you could class as large build but they may well be toned so where do you put yourself. it's personal preference I guess and a tough call

"Athletic" to me, as a general guide, means fairly low body fat.

A shotputter or a long distance runner will have different builds but will both, usually, still have low body fat.

We put slim for both of us but go on in our profile to expand as I think many on here get it wrong, and have different views on body types! Personally before we joined this site we both would have described T as curvy! However D will be changing to average soon!

Feedback if we've got it wrong very welcome x

Which is why photos and profiles are helpful.

I've got full body photos, (some not very flattering), and I describe myself fairly well in words on my profile. People can judge for themselves.

Some places allow you to search by body type - I've not used it in fab.

An athletic body type is one that I perceive as would stand out amongst others as looking very fit, like they'd be active presently in a range of sports, running, cycling etc, at an above average level, with a very toned body.

I have athletic, I'm not ripped muscular or a gym addict.

But I'm pretty fast at swimming and raced competitively, and won most of my races.

It's something I'm naturally very good at. And I don't consider myself slim at 12st 6lbs.

I found this description -

'a constitutional type marked by broad shoulders, deep chest, flat abdomen, thick neck, and good muscular development'.

It's not too bad, though I'd argue a little restrictive, especially upon the broad shoulders - whilst I don't want a swan's neck on a guy, a thick neck isn't needed either.
