was merrily watching telly when the channels started to change on their own...off of the AV channel and just kept racing through.if I try to put it back it lasts for about 10 sec then starts again. Even turning it off doesn't work,it just turns itself back on.Granted it is about 15 years old...lol...anyone got a telly they don't want?lol

this one belonged to my ex's folks for at least 8 or 9 years before they gave it to us(so THEY could get a flat screen...lol)and I have had it since,a further 7 years so knew it was on it's way out...just can not afford a new one now. I just got all clever though...as my monitor is actually a telly, have attatched the v+box to the monitor so can use that for now...so you will see me on here a lot less I think as can no longer check messages quickly while the winks watch a bit of telly...lol

don't wnt to scare you but this happened to my nephews tv a few years ago, was playing up and doing odd things, was an old tv. Then one night he went out for the night with mates while my sister and her hubby were in the house, he had turned it off and unplugged it but it was the casue of the fire that night in their house, they were lucky to get out and lost the whole top floor of their house. Fire guy said a lot of house fires are caused by old tv's and yes they can catch fire even if they are turned off and unpluggee xxxxx

Buy yourself a new mobile and get a free tv from orange.

I dought that a tv will set fire when its not plugged in. They are trying to scare you into turning your tv off.

I repaired them for 20+ years and never saw of heard of one going on fire when turned off - you can still get a nasty shock off them (the old ones that is) long, long after they were turned off - but fires ? naaaaa

well, the ex helped me get it into the garage this afternoon so I all of a sudden have a lot more room in the lounge...lol it is amazing how much room those old tellys took up. So now for the unforeseeable future I have the V+ box and the pc hooked up to the same telly as can not afford a new one.
