Any experienced sewers in the house?

Any fairly basic machine is straightforward for the simple stuff. Look to see if there are any classes near you, craft shops or fabric shops sometimes hold them or have info or try local colleges and evening classes.
I'd suggest you work out exactly what you want to use your machine for before you buy - some embroider or overlock but it can be expensive if you never use that, or expensive if you want it later.
So try classes first and you'll be able to try out different machines with different capabilities. |

For things like vision covers, filled hearts, bunting kind of things really to begin with. |

I've a brother machine that is great. Does all I need it to do - alterations and cushions, curtains etc... but to be honest, I don't use it very often, and its in its box in a cupboard. |

A basic machine will do that. Once you start sewing you will become addicted and end up with a house full of fabric. There is a very good fabric supplier in Bourmouth I'd be happy to p.m. you the name |

I also have a singer as well bought it just not used it yet but did come with all the parts needed
though I have offered my mum its usage and i should really get some lessons on how to use it from her but theres enough info and videos on the web so at least I can learn if need be |
