Life Time Warranty at 100k???!!!

Just seen an advert by a car manufacturer offering "Life Time Warranty" on their non-commercial cars.
Thought it is too good to be true, and it is, as they cap it at 100k miles! 
I did that kinf of milage in 6y! |

they never tell you if its the lifetime of the car or the purchaser 
i've worked out that i have enough money to live comfortably for the rest of my life
providing I die next tuesday

If it's got a 100,000 mile warranty why would the first owner want to change it before then? |

Some people I know change their cars every two to three years, irrespective of the mileage. |

why a toyota prius?
they are more envoiromently unfriendly than a normal hatchback when building and scrapping are taken into account, plus every one i know who has one says they are not as good at the pumps as claimed.
the only reason would be cheap road tax or free congestion charge? |

Agreed but it's usually because they reckon the car is going to start costing money to repair.
Why, if there aren't going to be any repair costs till 100,000 miles, would they change it? New colour? Impress the neighbours? |

why would you buy a new car, even if it has a great warranty?
weve just bought a 4 year old focus 12 thou less than it was new and only 30k on the clock, so every year of ownership cost the previous owner 3k a year just on that alone????? |

I dislike buying anything second hand, let alone cars.
And there is something very special about spec'ing a car to your own needs and wants, and be its first owner etc... |

understand that but the cost is huge, and you still can tailer a car to you, it just takes time to find the right one, plus it does give me a smug feeling that i havnt wasted all that money.
and those that borrow to buy new are even more mad, they are paying twice  |

and also talking about faults, i used to work in the trade, and most major faults happen in the first year, mainly due to production faults, after a few years most have been sorted |

I would say its a dishonest advert my self. Cars are expected to last at least 10 years and i think the average people drive is 12 -15 k so a minimum of 150k is nearer a lifetime. |

According to an ex-colleague who worked in the engineering department of the motor industry, modern cars are designed and tested to last 5y without any major faults.
No wonder my car is sailing into the unknown, with nearly 140k on the clock and nearly 9yo! |
