Guys who are a little 'off'

By (user no longer on site) OP     over a year ago

This is an expression I remember a girl once telling me, and it seems to be something many find attractive. I can't quite explain it, but it seems to be something a lot of more cerebral/geeky girls are drawn to, guys who don't necessarily fit into the typical stereotype of male good looks/character, but are regardless considered very attractive, such as James Mcavoy, Tom Hiddleston, Benedict Cumberbatch, David Tennant, Tom Hardy etc

For women who do find such men attractive, the question is why, and who else would you say falls into this category?

I would say(my friends would too) that I'm a little like this. I don't always go for the guy that everyone else would typically go for. I can't explain why.

Prime example, I have a huge thing for The HoneyBadger.. Usually when I tell people they're reactions are "what the fuck " type answers...

I can see him being very attractive to some, his whole demeanour is SO awkwardly endearing, like he's so uncool that he's actually incredibly cool

You've mentioned five favourites here. Something about the way they move and speak and think.

Put those ugly buggers in Asda stacking shelves and no women would look twice.

I'm not sure there is such a thing as an unattractive famous person. If Cumberbatch wasn't famous, most women wouldn't give him a second glance.

All the women going on about Tom Hardy, don't get me wrong great actor but c'mon he wouldn't look out of place stood outside your local boozer in Nike trackies and a Sergio Tacchini top with half a joint sticking out of his mouth reeking of BO - would you give him a second look then?

You would but for a whole different reason altogether "where did I leave my bloody pepper spray??" LOL

There's plenty of good looking people that if you dressed them like that and they stunk and smoked that I wouldn't give a second glance. All of them in fact. Male or female!!! Part of tom Hardys thing is that he's rough and ready.

Well the way I understand the word cerebral as used as an adjective, is that it means you make decisions using cold rational intelligence rather than your heart. In that case, it's not about some innate attraction at all, it's that those women have decided that sort of man is the best fit for them.

For those asking why I included Tom Hardy in that mix, it's because, though he is indeed uniquely attractive (very intense eyes and a strong speaking voice), I don't see him as fitting into the same classical Hollywood looks as George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Hugh Jackman, Chris Pine, Chris Hemsworth (interesting given that his Marvel brother Tom Hiddleston is actually considered EASILY the more attractive of the two in fan circles?) Channing Tatum, and lets even throw a young Robert Redford in there (seriously, he was near flawlessly handsome in his prime).

I very much like Tom Hardy and can see the attraction, but don't think it's from his appearance alone.

Reading

I'm a big fan of Tom Hiddleston, as an actor and a human being, but also find him very attractive.

He inter_iews incredibly well. He is also impeccably dressed, and comes across as nice enough to take home to meet my mum, without being so nice he's boring.

He's also really bright, articulate, and has a deliciously sexy voice. I'm my mind, he smells amazing

James McAvoy has similar qualities, but with an element of mischief and cheekiness that just appeals. Even if he is a touch on the short side. He's also got a philanthropic streak, and a desire to do something with his good fortune, that makes me think he seems like a nice guy.

I'd also include mark strong on that list, something about him makes me go weak at the knees.

Another man with powerful eyes and voice, I think he just comes across as inwardly strong.

He smeared himself, with shit, in Bronson...and I still would . So, I don't think a shell-suit and a pair of kappa trainers, is a deal breaker ...but he's a rare kinda hottness. So all rules, are well... ruled out.

It's called being quirky. A feature I also find attractive in female.

The norm is all well and good.

Quirky offers something different and unknown.

Always an attractive thing.
