Special 50th Birthday Inspiration.

I am totally stuck.
It's my Mums 50th birthday in December and I'm at an absolute loss. I've just no idea what to get her.
I know the first thing people will ask is what she likes and to be honest that's a blummin hard question to answer. She doesn't drink, doesn't smoke, doesn't have any particular hobbies, has a list of medical conditions which make her shy away from spa type treatments/massages etc. Really picky with jewellery and a fussy eater.
I did think about a weekend away somewhere but they're going on holiday on her birthday anyway so that seems a bit surplus to requirements.
I also thought of a surprise party but I don't know enough of her friends etc to get that sorted. I could try to enlist the help of my Step-Dad but Mum looks after his mobile when he's in bed after 12 hour shifts so I would need to be very very careful about when I contacted him.
I'm literally exhausted trying to think of something special to get for her. I hope the thought counts  |

What about giving her "Superstar status"
Limo to the airport for her birthday holiday.
Local photographer to take pics of them leaving the house (neighbours will be green and wondering what all the fuss is about)
Small child with bouquet of flowers as she comes out the front door (totally impractical but nice touch)
Red carpet to Limo(offcuts quite cheap at most carpet shops)
Piper to pipe them to the limo
Wouldn't suit everyone but you will know if your mother would enjoy being treated as a princess (or Big Brother contestant lol) |

I think as part of her 'gift' I could see whether I can find out their flight details to see if I can get them a limo to the airport and pass into a first class lounge or have a fuss made of her on the plane or something. I know she's really bummed about travelling on her actual birthday that that might sweeten the pill a little. |

a nice big photo on canvas of all the family ???..did that for my mumm she loved it |

Yeah I've been looking at stuff like that. Might get a picnic hamper or something and then get several bits like this to put in it. Maybe something she can keep like a nice necklace or bracelet. Mum likes amber so that might be nice.
I was remembering earlier that she has a couple of fake Pandora-like bracelets. Maybe I could get her a proper one with some meaningful charms on it. |

A number of online companies do original newspapers from a persons date of birth, or a newspaper scrapbook from the year they were born... ive bought a few for people who have no real interest in anything specific, all of which have enjoyed them.
When my mother turned 50 she spent weeks before saying "I dont want anything/there's nothing i need". I therefore got an empty cardboard box and beautifully giftwrapped it with gorgeous paper, ribbon and silk bows, i then wrote on the card 'i got this because i love you'... it complied fully with her wishes and thankfully she saw the funny side! |

Haha good one. My Mum is one of those who says she doesn't want a fuss blah blah but would be totally disappointed if she didn't get one. |

December is difficult because anything outdoors may be at risk from the weather
But if you could get away with it.. Balloon ride and fortnums hamper
Or assuming she is relatively at an age... Staying in a posh country house hotel in Durham with a visit to beamish to remember powdered eggs etc..

For my mum's 50th I bought her 50 presents each on indiviually wrapped.
Some were silly like a bag of chocolate buttons, a novelty pen, some cost only pence, a duster and got one really nice pressie
She had so much fun unwrapping it and with the emergence of £1 shops must be so much easier now |
