Am watching my favourite Lethal Weapon at the mo, the third one with Rene Rosso.
The opening sequence of blowing up a building, and the two leads saying oops to each other while clutching the cat is brilliant!  |

The first 30 minutes is epic."
absolutely agree, cannot be matched, the mother breaking down when she sees the priest arrive to tell her how many of her sons are dead knowing that it must be bad for the army to send a car not a telegram (it was 3 out of 4)
The first landings so realistic, showing the chaos and noise of battle the confusion and innocence
and the ex soldier visiting the graves at Arlington |

Always thought the opening of Blade, in the meat packing vampire nightclub with Tracy Lords leading some unsuspecting guy inside and then Blade turning up and kicking ass was one of the best openings I've ever seen. |

I don't know about opening scenes but my favourite closing one is when Scarlet O Hara says to Rhett Butler "after all, tomorrow is another day" in Gone with The Wind.
Makes me feel all warm and fluffy.  |

saving private ryan for me too the whole audio mix of the battle scene and the stutter camera work put you on that beach ,to me it was a work of genious,the first time i ever felt 5.1dts was used effectively

The big thing about the film was the realism. Not hyped up but portrayed as it really is and you have to give the producer a lot of credit for that. |

The first 15 minutes of the 1967 Stanley Baker film, "Robbery".
You've got a Rolls being stuffed into a skip, London when it was British, and absolutely the best cinema car chase of all time, between 2 Mk2 Jags. They get a real pasting, some proper driving, no CGI, no physically impossible stunts. (Director Peter Yates got the job of doing "Bullitt" from this chase)
The rest of the film is all downhill from there though.... |
