Following on from the sexiest accent, what is the worse accent??

Liverpudlian.....a horrible horrible accent. My employers are based in Merseyside and listening to them just makes me want to go profoundly deaf!!

A Glaswegian one isn't high on the popularity list. Rab C Nesbett comes to mind when i hear one.

A real strong Brummy accent. Again, I used to work for a Birmingham based firm so that may influence me as management were tossers! Lol

"scottish "

There are many different regions in Scotland and all speak differently.

Aberdonian is a nightmare to grasp, especially in deepest Inverurie.

Really strong accents tend to be from Ports:-

Liverpool

Newcastle

Glasgow

London

Portsmouth

Bristol

But the worst accent in the world surely is a pasty-faced pure white cockney lad, or a Pakistani with product in his hair driving a shit Honda or Coras pretending he's from Jamaica innit.

Aaaaargh

Besides some accents being phonetically softer/ harder than others I think people associate accents with certain attributes and experience, and they transfer previous experience on that accent. Why would a lot of British call centres use Scottish accents when selling insurance policies for example? There has been research on the matter and some Scottish accents(I dont recall which though) are said to sound more "trustworthy " than others.

No I love most accents but have a soft spot for the Scottish

I totally agree with you, remember that advert with Mark Williams, before he did the fast show, 'We want to be togetha' there was just something about that accent that fitted the character

It depends also on what is considered to be an "eligible" accent, what makes the public school accent for example more successful in the application for uni/ jobs etc.

It is all about perception - no accent, broad or slight, can give an indication regarding the speaker's intelligence lol

The worst accent in my mind isn't specific to any part of the country, it's that ridiculous sort of twisted "jamaican cod" spoken by the more stupid teens/ early twenties (usually white), that dictates instead of "Well done the bloke who thinks he's hot shit" they'll come out with "Big shout to da bwoi who tinks he a Gee, ya get meh?"

Twats...

The irony is they all talk about bein a gangster or a "g", yet little do they realise most successful gangsters will actually describe themselves as "businessmen"....
