not sure if this has been done recently - ignore me please if it has. But what about things you LOVED when you were little and do you still love them now.
I am referring to food... not practical jokes you played...
Mine was banana sandwich and oats with chocolate milk... (Not together!!!)  |

You think it might have been "forbidden fruit" flavour? I remember that the apples from our neighbours garden always tasted better than our own even though they were the same variety...;-) |

After Mass on Sunday my grandparents would take us for an ice cream in a little dark grocery store, it came to us in the little silver bowls with lime cordial dribbled around and a ground up flake sprinkled over it. Cost 10p and was delicious, still smile at the memory and still love going out for ice cream |

OMG yes, and nobody ever told us about Salmonella in those days ... we just had scraped the cake bowl and actually... never became ill...lol
Now I would not let my kids do that - does that make me a bad mother???  |

peanut butter and banana sandwiches...
I am sure a lot of you are going to say gross...as a lot here say for peanut butter and jam sandwiches(here as in th uk)...but I am Canadian and was brought up on the stuff...lol |

peanut butter and banana sandwiches...
I am sure a lot of you are going to say gross...as a lot here say for peanut butter and jam sandwiches(here as in th uk)...but I am Canadian and was brought up on the stuff...lol"
My American friends have peanut butter and jam sarnies... nothing wrong with that, so why should peanut butter and banana be wrong. (Actually I think it sounds healthy, carbs and protein in one sweep...) |

No it doesn't make you a bad mother!!
Not 100 percent sure, but I think if you buy eggs wth the lion stamp on them the hens have been vaccinated against salmonella? |

1. Butter and sugar (mixed together in an eggcup) a special treat from my mum if I was feely poorly.
2. raw cake mixture (thanks to previous posters for reminding me of this yummy treat) the scraps of which myself and my sister would eagerly scrape out of the mixing bowl after my mum had poured the main content into cake moulds for baking.
3. Tate and Lyle treacle pudding (which came in a tin) that we had with custard after Sunday dinner.
I dont think I could face any of these now as I have lost my sweet tooth altogether! But happy memories as I lost my mum three years ago today.  |

oh....and pie n mash (parents were cockneys)
cockles down at the sea front
roasted chestnuts
picking wild mushrooms, berries, roots etc to eat for supper

loved that, used to get them first thing in the morning, put them on the flat plate of the range with a knob of butter and leave them to slow cook while we did the yard and then devour the lot, was never enough......
We used to come home in the evening to mums rants about the tears in the tops and staining from the berries, ah the good old days. Have tried to get my own kid interested, but unless it comes wrapped in plastic its either not fit to eat or more likely to much like hard work!!!!! |

Yeah, no one else seems to remember Texan bars - so tough they'd rip your fillings out - Nice!
and Wagon wheels have definitely shrunk nowadays - they used to be as big as your head.
My suggestion- floats - Yum, yum.
And my kids eat their cake mixture, dipping their heads in the bowl until their hair's coated in gooey mess. It's just part of being little. Aaaaah. |

My Mum used to put cinnamon in the egg and make French Toast....happy memories of my late Mum"
My late dad used to have a kind of berry jam (similar to cranberries) with baked Brie but also with other cheeses and as children we used to laugh at him... now we all love it and remember him fondly, wishing he could see us passing on that habit (and a few other culinary oddities) to the next generation. Yes, happy memories |

rhubarb and a cup of sugar....goosberries straight from the bush unwashed lol..... garden turnips.... piece on tomato sauce or sugar....smoked fish cooked in milk... piece on condensed milk.... my grans packet custard you could blow a bubble under the skin lol.....2 slice of broth soup so thick you had to slice it out of pot.... grans porrige same....god the memories xx |

on this note but not related... anybody got a really nice recipe for bread an butter pudding, good solid but not too stodgy... got mum coming over soon and want to impress with English dessert.

Toasted bread and Dripping...yes, the ultimate junk food..but once in a while isnt going to kill you..
Sugar sandwiches...come on we have all done it!
A bacon roll cooked in fat...not olive oil or butter spread substitute lite reduced salkand added sunflower seed oil...

My gran used to stand an uncut loaf up, spread it with butter then golden syrup, thick cut, omg delicious but sooo fattening  doesnt quite taste the same with asdas own brand syrup and wholemeal bread  |
