Better than the 1970's/life becoming a landslide ?

With both an academic and personal keen interest in Modern uk history ( I'll get my coat )I was wondering what people think are the key society benefits from where we were at as a nation in the 1970's ?
And in balance in what ways do you perceive our lives have deteriorated over the same time span ? |

maggie thatcher killed off nearly all the trade unions in the eighties.
less married women went out to work in the seventies so there was less traffic on the roads as it was usualy just the man of the house who had a car.
children werent allowed in pubs in the seventies and you could smoke without having to go outside. |

I would agree with all three of those.
The demise of trade unions and as a result their power to influence has been one of the biggest factors in working relations changing.
The employee could be argued to have had more of the whip hand then (subject to your trade) whereas it definitely sits in the hand of the employer now. |

I can send my kids to the park with no worries about them finding pages of porn mags all over the place.....they don't have to leave the comfort of their bedrooms and laptops for that now  |

Things that are different from the 70's let see tv seemed more magical, porn was simple and nobody in it had to be beasted or had to put outrageous sized objects in the arse and pussy for it to be a turn on, hot summer nights playing with friends in the street making up new games or 20 a side football on the green with jumpers for goal posts, walking to school with your mates, building camps in the woods, big bags of sweets that lasted all day and could be brought with your pocket money which was not much at all, Saturday morning pictures, fish and chips in newspaper, hot summers the list is endless |

and its going to get worse,the Government are taking away trying to take away the green file(all our employment rights ie sick pay,holiday entitlement,etc) |

The seventies the dark ages if having less tv channels is the dark ages then life must have been marginally better in the dark ages then, or is the rising obesity levels now a good thing in these enlightened times of multiple channels on the tv, video games, junk food and a lesser need to walk or play in the fresh air |
