I see the forums as being the social/public part of the site, and thusly a good place to get to know a bit about people and hopefully find ones you'd like to message. Unfortunately it seems that only a very small percentage of the site actually uses them, so what ways could be used to tempt more people to actually post? |

I have only posted 1 new thread and I got some helpful replies, I am addicted to reading them and sometimes want to join in but it is the quick or the dead on here lol by the time I have thought through my reply someone else has said it! X |

If just 10% of this site used the forum, there would be over 1500 people posting at any one time..... how well would you get to know people then?
People often say they struggle keeping up in the chatrooms with only a fraction of that number chatting... can you imagine how fast the first page would move with 1000 people wanting to tell you how big their bunion was or wondering why they hadn't fucked anyone yet?
The primary reason for the vast majority joining the site is to get shagged..... fishing in a puddle has limitations when the great lakes are well stocked. |

I love the forums, took me a while to get into the swing (no pun intended) of them, but i'm hooked... I'm always popping on daily.. Some very good mixture of threads on here, plus for entertainment value... Its all good! |

I agree if lots more people used them we wouldn't have the banter we have now as noone would get to know each other.
As for the welcome mat noone really spoke to me when i first came here...but i just kept going if i had an opinion i typed it...you just have to keep going. |

I agree you have to keep on going .. when I was on here last I thought it was too cliquey and posted once and left it.

While not many people participate in the forums theres many more that read them and don't post
I think people need a rhinos arse thick skin to post sometimes as it can look like a closed shop and be very unapproachable
The more that post the better as far as im concerned,more opinions and personalities make it a far more interesting place
I keep my playtime off the forums so im not concerned about getting meets from regular posting,I use them as I like the banter and the madness |

Don't take it too seriously, sharpen your elbows and join in. We've all posted something that read differently to the way it did in our heads and got grief for it! And many of us have had bans -mine was for my first ever post!!!
But as well as being sarcastic this place can also be supportive and friendly.
So what if you get slapped down occasionally? It's only nutters off't'internet who have nothing better to do with their time then tell you what they're having for tea and discuss when and what is a criminal record instead of working or living an actual life!

I think the forums are sometimes akin to bookface with the drivel sometime posted but thats enough about my posts

OH! I seem to have moved onto here for entirely different reasons!
I was getting fed up with the idiotic one line messages I was getting from people who couldn't be bothered to read any profile with more than seven words in it. I've never browsed profiles (only those that look at me) n I don't send initial messages. So I've abandoned bothering about meets n just log in for the craic rather than the crack   |

After almost 10 years on swing forum, I know the answer.........you can't do anything really. you might get some- many won't stay and theres a chance that the influx might end up pissing off an equal amount of regular users enough to leave- so back to square 1.
Let people find their way here- if they stop they stop- if they don't then its no major loss |

The forums can appear quite cliquey to lurkers. A lot of forumites seem to operate here a bit like some of the worst offenders in Midlands chat do. It doesn't exactly encourage new members to post! |

I think Fabforums offers a great mix of threads ranging from good natured banter to enthusiastic debate and considered thought exchange……
I love the fun threads and I love the serious one too…
There’s nothing better than being able to tune in and out of the thoughts and opinion an eclectic blend of wonderfully diverse minds….
So c'mon newbies...dip your toes in and show us ya craic

I think some people are far too busy to chat bollox on the internet plus as in real life some people have no personality whatsoever so do not expect them to be chatty on the forums.

More often than not when a thread is interesting , it is hijacked - or ridiculed by such trivialities as the spelling or grammar police .
Thus , many new and potentially interesting posters give the forums a wide berth .
Add to this the inevitable trolling and judgemental people and you are on a hiding to nothing when you hope for more than the one percent using the forums .
If you get past the above and persevere you then find the clique which is almost impossible to ignore . So in summation if you use the forums for weighing up potential meets , they may well be few and far between !
How may this all change ?

According to the offical site stats, only about 1% of the users actually use the forums.

Maybe if there were updates on profiles like "krjc just posted on [insert forum topic]" of course user could have the option to disable it but i think it would bring more people to the forum. I've gotten addicted to the forums now and i think it is a great way to interact and get to know people you might want to meet in person. My problem is all the good looking interesting people i want to meet are on the other side of the world from me
