i suppose they would have to put a empty reply up if someone you have blocked has posted, you could'nt just have it as not there at all other wise people would look like they was talking to themselves lol |

I think it will be a bit weird
There are some that have loads of people blocked so reading threads is going to seem really odd
On the plus side it means that you don't have to have anything to do with people you have blocked
It wil be interesting to see how it works,they do it in chat

So everyone else would be able to see the post except you if you have them on your blocked list ???

It's quite reasonable for Admin to assume that if you've blocked someone you don't want to hear anything from them, anywhere, ever. They're simply responding to what they see as the correct course of action to make people's lives on here a little easier - because they see so many people whining about getting messages from people who they don't want to message them. |

Why don't admin put a full block in and a half block then people have a choice. Other wise you might be unaware of someone slagging you off on here. |

Personally, I think it will encourage people to start up bogus profiles so they can read everything…. The sad feckers will go further round the bend if they start feeling they are missing out on something and as for the paranoids… oh my word they’ll be crawling the walls after a couple of hours.
However, I think there is something in stopping people being able to quote people they have blocked… so it takes away the ability to directly reply to a person who doesn’t want to communicate with them.
If it does come to fruition that you won’t be able to see what someone posts if they have blocked you… what’s to stop someone blocking as many regular posters as they can and then posting stuff only a few if any will be able to read? Would mods be able to see what has been written if they have been blocked?

Agreed.
As for not wanting to hear what people we have blocked have said would be akin to censorship.
Just because we don't want to hear of them direct doesn't mean we don't want to know in the forum, they might put a clever debate on here. |

I can see what Polo is saying about people creating other accounts to see what is going on if they have huge block lists themselves
I can also see mass blocks being done for a laugh to wind people up
The same system works in chat though so maybe thats why they want to try it here

The thing is.... chatrooms and forums are different... or are meant to be. They have different functions.
In a chatroom whatever you type is instant and then gone in a minute (10 seconds if it's busy).... it makes sense in a chatroom.... it's for chatting. |

nobody seems to have mentioned
all the cpls who have single guys blocked but are happy to chat in the forums
if they start a post will the whole thing be blocked or just the bit they typed .
its one of those ideas that sound good but arnt fully thought through |

Of course, Admin own the site...but if people dont like it, they should leave???...thats a bit odd for anyone running a business..

I will paste what I put in the other thread again as you seem to have missed it , on purpose.
Actually if you are talking about me saying if people don't like how the site is run they don't have to stay, I think you have purposely took my post out of context.
I was commenting on something that had gone off topic, not about having a bock for a forum.
I don't decide what the site owners introduce, but I do have a voice as a member when I think someone is being provocotive on a thread that has nothing to do with the subject just for the hell of it and I am allowed that opinion |
