It has to be 1964, Mini Cooper Cars and Mini Skirts, Cheap beer and Petrol, lots of great pubs, Bernie Inns doing Steak and chips for under a £1.
Wife/Partner swaps at the house parties, of which there were many.

Been a few absolute standouts.
1979-81 Mod revival, started going to gigs regularly and girls finally started paying just a modicum of interest.
1989 - started with getting dumped by first long-term girlfriend, spent the whole summer at ska gigs in London, ended up living back in East London with a Debby Harry look-a-like.
1996 Single again, in London, Euro 96 and realising that all the good-looking girls that wouldn’t look at me in their teens were coming out of long-term relationships emotionally battered and now valued personality over looks. I had very little of either, just enough to have a chance.
1998 - the absolute best. Got together with the love of my life and still give thanks every day for this.

There have been highs and lows this year and many stresses and many joys. But I think of where I am at in life, how hopeful I feel about my future, how comfortable I am in my self and the people I have in my life I am going to go for this year. |
