Not sure if it's a matter of inheriting. I still mostly enjoy hearing south Indian music(not Bollywood). While I can hear Western music once in awhile, it's not my favourite.

No, not in the slightest. My Mum & Dad were into Frank Sinatra and brass bands, so a far cry from metal, rock, blues!

My parents were older when they had me, so I got 50s Rock 'n' Roll from my Dad, and Big Band Swing like The Rat Pack. Disco, Motown and Barry Manilow from my mum. Developed my own taste as well obviously, and it's pretty eclectic.

Yeah. A love of 50s and 60s music, I inherited from my mother. I'd prefer it was the only thing I inherited from her.

Grew up listening to Rolling Stones and Jimi Hendrix from my Dad and Iggy Pop from my Mum. My sister got me into Nirvana when I was knee high to a grasshopper.

Currently listening to Nirvana so I guess I did inherit some music taste.

This thread is great for my consideration of Bourdieu’s research into class and musical taste and Atkinson’s follow up.

And yes. I love 90s RnB, 90s American rap and many eras of Reggae music from both my parents and actually every older member of my family.
