Have you or would you meet people from the forums or do you prefer to meet the locals?

If you have has it always been a positive experience?

Please don't name names.

Have a great day all.

We haven’t met anyone from the forums but we definitely would. You get a better feel for someone’s personality on here than you do when they’re trying to impress you over a few messages in your inbox.

I have and while the meet was fine, it was the mixed signals, lies and being messed about that wasn't. Does not fit in with their forum persona at all. I did ask for answers and tried to open a mature discussion but was ignored.

So yes, very wary about meeting forum people now

I would meet people from the forums, and have done at big socials. You definitely get a better sense of people's personality on here than in messages. But they'd need to be relatively close to me, I wouldn't travel more than an hour to meet someone.

Yes it has worked for me.

Over the years most of the people I've met have been via the forums and it's been great.

Some just as a social encounter and one or two I've even gotten naked with.

Where would you like me?

Meet the locals. No idea why that's tickled me so much.

I'm quite enjoying my recent thing of meeting people who don't use the forums. One recently was an absolute delight and my libido is stupidly high now. They might read my waffle though. :D

Yes, I've met people from the fora for a myriad of reasons - platonic, romantic and very far from platonic.

Has it always been a positive experience?

Not always.

I've been cheated on, doubted myself, lied to, had my trust broken... but that's not because they use the forums. It's because they're as flawed and human as those who don't use it.

The positive experiences though? They outweigh the negative any day and I'd happily go through it again if I got to experience such highs.

There's been the incredible kisses where I've lost myself in another. The moments of real connection. The laughing hysterically on the Tube the morning after a social and realising the rest of the carriage were laughing at these three women dying of a hangover and laughter. Talking for hours on the phone to someone who gets me for me. The trust, the support, the love, the real friendship.

It's not without its downside - I'm quite a private person and loathe being discussed with others, especially when I've opened up/the truth isn’t accurately relayed. It will inevitably happen though because it's part of life.

So yes, I'll carry on meeting forum users - there are some I can't wait to meet, some I'll undoubtedly meet one day and others I look forward to meeting again.

Irrelevant

We've met from the forums and had a fun time. As others have said the forums are a great way to get a feel for other people, and a way of finding like-minded people.

That said, I suspect that if the one couple who we had many great meets with had been on the forums we would definitely have clashed with many of their views. This is why I tend to take those "we don't meet Tory's" comments with a pinch of salt. It turns out that you may never know who is a Tory until you have those conversations. Without discussing politically divisive topics, a Tory can be fun, kind, considerate and caring. Who knew? Presumablythe same goes the other way. They certainly appeared to enjoy our times together despite our wokish ways

In a ball gown because that's how we roll in N. Devon

Most of the people I have met have been from the forum, and on the whole it has been a decent experience. In some cases it has led to a strong, long lasting friendship, in some a hot burning but brief friendship. I've been naked with a few and had a lot of fun, I've been naked with a few and had a lot of sex.

I've had relationships that have begun on the forum, and I've found a love I never expected.

I've also had horrible experiences with people who have been cruel, uncaring, and hurtful, but the worst fab experiences (horrific life experiences to be honest) have been with people who barely know there is a forum here.

It's nothing to do with whether people use the forum or not, it's down to the people they are. The difference is that forum use gives us a far rounder picture (yet still not complete in many cases) of who the person is, compared to private mesaaging alone. Added to that the fact that most forum users live eleventy billion miles from me and that gives a lot of time for talking, connection building and weirdo spotting before meeting is even an option.

I'm really looking forward to meeting more forum users and to seeing those I already know, over the next few weeks, and looking further forward to connecting again with others, and meeting even more.

I use the forums as an additional filter so during the lifetime of this particular profile I have only met forum people.

On one hand it has been an amazing experience and I found my fab bestie and fwb through our forum interaction.

On the other hand it has highlighted for me the shallowness of some people and how they would sell their granny for validation.

People believing their own hype is one thing. Using that to manipulate and denigrate others is beyond despicable.

"Have you or would you meet people from the forums or do you prefer to meet the locals?

If you have has it always been a positive experience?

Please don't name names.

Have a great day all.

"

We have met loads of forum people socially and have enjoyed them all positively.

We wouldn’t talk about the bedroom experiences as they almost all still hang around here and some of them might think we’re referencing them.

Plus Meli gets really jealous as she’s in love with my beautiful penis.

We don’t meet locals from fab.

On the whole, yes. I met himself on the forum. I've also met some lovely people that I now call friends. I've met an awful lot of forum users at socials, and I've met a few more intimately. There has also been some needless drama and nastiness unfortunately ...fishing in such a small pond allows others to be aware of who is meeting who and jealousy can rear it's ugly head

I have met 4 lovely ladies via these forums. All platonically, I might add (as was the intention from all sides)

So. Yes.

They worked for me, in that I met four really nice people who have all been as lovely, friendly, warm and generous with their time by the bucketful

That is enough

Meet forum people?! That bunch of weirdos and perverts??!!!

I’ve been on fab for years but only been chatting on the forums for about six months, so I guess still very new. I’ve never met anyone who I first got chatting to here (although some locals I’ve met have turned up occasionally) but I definitely would.

Fab has become my social media, my little place to chat and be myself away from the world. It’s like escapism but online with like minded friends, most of whom I know I’ll never meet.

I like that I can get to know someone (as much as one ever can on a forum) and build connections. I’m better at that than in person. The funny thing is, I do wonder if there would be more pressure on each of us than just meeting a local after a few messages.

Anyway, that’s my random musings. Have I answered the question yet?!

I’ve only met two people as a direct result of forum interaction, and they remain good friends after 5/6 years

Neither are what you might class as ‘Forumites’ though, you know; THOSE ones (don’t use the C word)……

The majority of my meets have been with ‘The Locals’, because so few of the Forum contributors are local to me, and so many of the Forumites rarely step outside of organised socials and clubs, both of which are too far from me to be worth the effort

We met lots years ago, largely because of organising big socials and attending them too.

I used to predominantly meet people from the forums that I'd become well acquainted with via random threads. Some for just socials, some for sex.

There are a huge number that I'd love to meet just for a coffee (I say 'I' as Fox doesn't venture in here at all) but there are some that we've both chatted to via PM with a view to meeting at some point.

If at some point our commitments were less and time was much freer, I'd gladly suggest meeting many forum regulars should they be driving up or down the M5. It would be great to meet up for a pit stop coffee given our proximity to the motorway.

Most organised socials are a long way away from us and we avoid the Bristol one as they don't allow single guys which aside from being our main target audience, we find that concept a little disrespectful and non-inclusive.

This always makes us wary. There are some forum users that love to make it obvious who they're making the best with two backs with and that's definitely not for us. Nothing to hide, just don't want to be a lamppost covered in piss.

The advice I would give (especially for men) is not advertise or make public who you've met. Keep it discreet. Playful flirting on the forums is fine, but anything beyond keep it private and out of public view. It helps if the person you're pursuing has a similar outlook / mindset.

I wholeheartedly agree with that last paragraph. Playful flirting is fine bit when you do it on every thread, it's blatant attention seeking to the fact you've had sex with each other and it's crosses the line from playful and cute to cringey AF

Yep. I'd extend that to the women as well - it's a far easier and happier life if you're getting cocked from outside the forum users. If you do - don't tell everyone. Honestly. It's not worth it at all.

Hmm. See, before I'd agree with that and think ah bitches be trippin'. But now? I think quite often what happens is caused by crap communication, both parties not being clear with each other and mismatched expectations. False promises being made etc.

Which then leads to people being unhappy, acting up etc.

It's far too easy to say grief, hassle and jealousy are oft the domain of women - it's not as clear cut as that.

I'd agree it can be more nuanced, and there are outliers. Though from my experience and observation, most of the associated drama is woman driven.
