I was in tesco today and was looking for something on the shelves and saw shipmans fishpaste, well ive not had it since i was a kid and still have nightmares but they had got posh flavours so ive just had some on bread bacon and stilton and something flavour and ive been sat here trying to work out why its called fish paste. Then i looked at the jar and its not fish paste its courdon bleu sandwich filler what a div, must be time for my bed |

I dont flaming know i said it was sandwich filler anyway, the other one is smoked salmon flavour and that says the same on it. If it was pate it wouldnt come in a jar marked sandwich filler it would say pate sandwich filler |

It can be a very respectable starter, try making a basket out of a lemon, and pipe the mixture into it

I often have smoked mackeral/tuna mashed up in mayo and lemon and black pepper in a sandwich but would hardly serve it as a starter |

The lemon basket with smoke mackeral "pate" as a starter came from a cook book or I read it somewhere yonks ago! Certainly not original  |
