Gullible people are everywhere and sometimes it a situational thing
Bring the least gullible person you know on site and by the end of the day I’ll hand him asking the plumbers for a long weight and asking the painters if they have any striped paint |

a bit like Alan (with an Asian accent) from Amazon who's telling me my subscription is due for renewal.
When I have the time, I love wasting theirs. They ask me to sit in front of a computer and type www.sharemypc.com so I type wwwdotsforsugarhforhotel etc etc which obviously doesn't work, so i tell them and they then tell me I'm wasting their time!!  the longest I've kept them on the phone is 37 minutes.
Recently I've taken to log into porn hub having it playing in the background and tell them I'm a bit busy at the moment.. |

You are probably the sort of person who thinks a solar panelled property has no power on cloudy days.
It's called a turbine for a reason. Not a fan. No electricity or other form of power is required ,certainly not a back up.
On less windy days ,they produce at a slower rate. That is why there is always a field of them. Plus ,they only need less than 10mph to operate.

We're all gullible to a greater or lesser degree. I've seen people who believe themselves very worldly wise be extremely gullible if a pretty/handsome face is telling them something or a certain weakness is exploited. |

I'm not sure it's a bad thing to say "I'm not sure how this system works, I'll see if I can find out". I know sweet FA about the mechanics - for all I know they have a backup motor for reasons I don't know enough about. (Not to make them spin)
Random googling gets elevated to "research" and people are too reliant on results that aren't fact checked, but it's a different problem to "I don't know, I'll see if I can find out". |

I love it when something like that happens and people get outraged over something that's patently untrue.
I do think we all have blind spots though. I'll buy any product that claims to make my naturally coarse and frizzy hair sleek and smooth. None of it works and I know even when I'm parting with my cash that it won't work, but there's always the hope that this bit of snake oil actually might do the trick. I know how gullible I am, but it just doesn't stop me. |

It's not diesel, it's hamsters. Teams of them. On big wheels.
Much cheaper than paying people to run on a treadmill and they aren't bothered about petty workers rights issues.

The most modern ones are all electric. Once a month a guy goes out in a rowing boat to replace the batteries. That's the reason why the fan bit is put on top of a long pole, the pole is hollow to hold the AA batteries. |

They have a very sophisticated computerised system which kicks in on calm days to help maintain power back to the grid but its far, far less than what it generates whilst in operation to make it worthwhile. If it can't generate enough power it shuts down and applies a brake to prevent it from spinning  |

Same! I have genuinely just come back from searching the shops for a miracle serum that means I can just wash and leave my hair. I'm 65 years old, I KNOW from years of experience that nothing but a blow dry or decent pair of straighteners will do the trick but here I still am, living in hope  |

That's not being gullible it'sbeing thick as two short planks. It's brought about by a combination of a total lack of attention in school and the belief that the world is out to get them.
Life now is too easy for humans to thrive mentally, people no longer need to understand anything about how the world actually works in order to survive, all that many people need to know is how our imagined reality works. Whole careers are worked in finance and law for example that require no knowledge of how the food we eat, the clothes we wear, the products we buy are actually produced and this has been the case for long enough that large amounts of people simply haven't a clue how anything works. It's argued that the steady decline in the volume of the human brain is the result of us needing to know much less in order to survive than our hunter gatherer ancestors did, paralleling the same brain volume decrease seen in domestic animals.

The most modern ones are all electric. Once a month a guy goes out in a rowing boat to replace the batteries. That's the reason why the fan bit is put on top of a long pole, the pole is hollow to hold the AA batteries."

"So yesterday a local wind turbine had a bit of an electrical fault that caused it to catch fire and burn out. Fast forward to today and someone puts a post on fb jokingly saying that the diesel engine that makes it spin must have overheated and caught fire, some of the comments on the post made me wonder just how gullible some people really are, when they start complaining that they thought wind turbines were meant to be eco friendly and having a diesel engine to make the fan spin is another disgusting trick by the energy companies so they can charge us more for electric. It kind of worries me if there are people out there that are seriously gullible enough to belive something as stupid as that "
Perhaps you were the gullible one for believing the complaints were real and not just people taking the piss?
