They are 86 and 92 years of age and we often comment that respect is not always shown to our elderly but it is okay to joke about them being out looking for meets or on drugs. Before you say that if she can't be at everything she should step down, just think about the year she has had. She has been on a 7 month royal progress. She is in her 80s and Philip is in his 90s. They are still working this summer as Philip has shown by visiting the Isle of Wight today. It was a late night, loud and tiring affair. He has been ill. We never know if she is ill. She has family that are willing to help out. Wouldn't yours do the same for you?" "The Queen opens parliament each year but she isn't required to be there to close it. She opened the Games but it wasn't deemed vital that she be there personally to close it. Harry represented his grandmother & family as a good ambassador for youth in this country and he performed his duties well. Remember, he will one day be supporting his brother when he becomes King and giving Harry such a central role in important events will assist him to serve his brother better when the time comes. William's training as a future monarch is in the hands of his father, grandmother and the Royal Household, Harry is a part of that. | |||

Daniel Craig just walking through the palace with the corgis snapping at his heels and then going into the drawing room and the Queen turning to speak to him would have been enough. The parachute thing was a little naff. Oh and I also agree that the comments about the #ueen swinging and jibes about parentage a little daft, its hardly side splitting funny is it. A recorded message would have been a nice touch to those athletes who competed but I would imagine there was good reason it wasn't and a good reason why the #ueen didn't attend in person. I doubt she made the decision herself and thought 'oh I can't be arsed tonight'. | |||

When i was younger i was a anti monarchist,but over the years i have totally changed. I found it fascinating how she literally given up her life for the country, you cant say it was for the "privileged" life style she leads as tbh if you gave me the choice of her life or mine ,I would take mine every time. Add to that she is the most experienced politician on the planet having spent time with the greatest politicians and artists who ever lived and she holds the commonwealth of nations (the biggest geo political group ever) together single handed is amazing . We rarely agree on stuff wishy but on ,this occasion i am going to as she is going to be a hard act to follow that is for sure . | |||
