When you're on WhatsApp and Facebook and they're all linked via your phone number
Next you may get an unknown number sending you a video call to ask you to play together on video naked so they can record you
Thats the way these scams work |

The level of scrutiny over a phone number in this thread is totally over the top. Unless y'all are secret celebs, politicians, or spies.
There's no harm in giving someone your number, OP. But there's never any guarantee that someone is interested in you, even if they meet you. There's always the possibility they'll say no, at every stage. Best to operate with that in mind! |

Sometimes if your mobile number is linked to a facebook profile then they can find your profile that way and perhaps even see and contact family members
Some folks wont take no for an answer and its harder to ghost them if they have your number
Sometimes googling a mobile number can lead to employment information to a stalker
With a phone number they can contact using WhatsApp and other apps that use your number as your id.
All of this can be mitigated with a little thought or a separate playphone.. but not everyone bothers basic securing of personal info. |

If someone has malicious intent they'll use any information in a malicious way. Most people aren't, though. It's not naive or foolish to give out your phone number, that's how people communicated for many decades before the likes of kik existed. It's a completely normal thing to do. |

Sure most people arent malicious. Some are though, and I wouldn't want the few that are having the ability to potentially contact my work, or my parents, or my friends. It's just a logical precaution and it's no big deal as there are other ways to communicate without the same issues. Most people here are in the closet about their swinging so someone malicious already has something to threaten you with. |

I realise I'm getting off topic and talking about real phone numbers on fab rather than a potential date...but not everyone might have realised what can be done with a phone number in the hands of someone with bad intentions |
